Announcing the New ProSpace

In 1998, a group of various space activists came together to create ProSpace, a 501c4 tax-exempt organization that actively lobbied and advocated for a brighter future in space. Over the next 15 years, its founders would draft legislation and actively lobby Congress, usually through the annual March Storm event, which still happens every March.

Over the past year, it has become very obvious to many of us that it was time to not only revive ProSpace but also turn it into a significant force for a much more ambitious future for America and the world. While we are reserving some of our juicier announcements for later this year, here is a peak at what we will be doing:

  1. Creating ProSpace Action, our new hybrid PAC, that will be actively working during this election cycle to support and encourage candidates that support our mission. A hybrid PAC (sometimes called a Carey Committee) is a political committee that can give limited amounts of money directly to campaigns and committees while still making independent expenditures in unlimited amounts.

  2. Supporting full-time lobbyists who spend quality time with Congress members and Administration officials daily about what a more ambitious future in space can do for Americans everywhere. Instead of a March Storm once a year, we will be having a March Storm every day.

  3. Educating the public about what an ambitious future in space can do for them, even if they have no interest in going themselves.
